Kayla has been an active freelancer in North Carolina since moving to Winston-Salem in 2020. She regularly enjoys traveling to play with orchestras across the state and teaches at middle/high schools throughout Western North Carolina. Last year she graduated with a Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she studied with Jaren Atherholt as the Oboe Studio Graduate Assistant. Kayla received her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Linda Strommen and Roger Roe.
She started teaching in 2014 and currently runs a private studio/reed business in Winston-Salem. She is passionate about teaching and eager to take on more students! She also sells American, long scrape oboe reeds.
Kayla recently discovered a passion for music administration as well. Currently, she is Music Librarian for the Piedmont Wind Symphony, as well as Front Desk Associate of Charlotte Music School Online.
